Samsung Electronics will operate an individual showroom for its mobile apps ecosystem at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014, which will open in Barcelona, Spain, in February. It is the first time for the company to have a separate apps showroom at MWC. The Samsung room would be the largest among the showrooms of individual companies participating in App Planet, a pavilion dedicated to apps.

Samsung Electronics officials confirmed on Jan. 15 that the company will run an individual apps showroom at MWC 2014, which will be held in Barcelona from Feb. 24 to 27 (local time).

The Samsung apps showroom showcases the apps developed with its software development kit (SDK) and the entries in the Samsung Developer Contests, as well as the app services developed by its Media Solution Center (MSC). The Samsung booth would be something like Android Village run by Google at MWC during the initial period of the Android operating system.

Up until last year, Samsung operated showrooms for exhibiting products and solutions of its Wireless Business Division, communication equipments of the Network Business Division and the semiconductor products of the Semiconductor Business Division. Its apps booth was part of the Wireless Business Division booth. But this time, its apps booth will be located inside the six-hall App Planet, featuring mainly the products developed by the Media Solution Center. With a floor space of 322 square meters, it is the largest among those run by individual companies featured in App Planet.

Samsung will operate four booths at MWC 2014, whose combined floor space amounts to 3,233 square meters. They include the three-hall Samsung mobile booth (2,169 square meters), the two-hall Samsung semiconductor booth (400 square meters), the Samsung network booth (342 square meters) and the app booth.
